Jess Belanger
Jess Belanger is the co-founder of The Race Collective and a USAT Certified Race Director with extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, program development, community engagement, and event management. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in counseling, and her academic background encompasses psychology, human behavior, and child development. Her professional experience includes supporting individuals and families through complex circumstances, as well as working directly with children in educational and movement-focused environments.
A lifelong advocate for health, wellness, and physical activity, Jess believes that every child deserves meaningful access to opportunities that allow them to explore movement, recognize their own strength, and experience the sense of belonging that comes from participating in sport. She is particularly passionate about creating approachable entry points for children who may not otherwise see themselves as athletes or have access to traditional endurance events.
At The Race Collective, Jess is involved in every stage of bringing an event to life, including planning, sponsorship development, community partnerships, participant communication, and race-day operations. As a distance runner and athlete, she understands both the discipline required to pursue an ambitious goal and the confidence that comes from discovering what is possible. That personal connection to sport drives her commitment to creating races where young athletes feel prepared, encouraged, and genuinely proud of what they accomplish.

What inspired your love of youth fitness?
One of the greatest joys in my life has been sharing fitness with my daughter. From running races together to supporting her own athletic pursuits, I have seen firsthand how movement can strengthen confidence, deepen connection, and create memories that last far beyond the finish line.
What is your favorite part of race day?
The moment a child crosses the finish line and immediately looks for their family. Seeing the pride on their face—and the excitement of showing the people they love what they just accomplished—captures everything I hope our events give to young athletes.
What do you hope every child takes away from a Race Collective event?
I hope they leave feeling proud, capable, and excited to try again. More than anything, I want every child to discover that they can do something challenging and that there is a place for them at the starting line.
What is your favorite way to stay active?
Movement is a central part of my life, and I’m always drawn to opportunities that challenge me both physically and mentally. I enjoy strength training, distance running, cycling, and tennis, particularly when I’m working toward a new goal or discovering what I’m capable of accomplishing. Most of all, I value the opportunity to share races, workouts, and active adventures with my daughter.
