Safety firstSafety is built into every part of Tri the Park. Lifeguards and additional support are stationed around the pool, with people in the water are available to assist young swimmers as needed.
Helmets are required for every cyclist, and training wheels are welcome. Plenty of volunteers are positioned throughout the course, with extra support in the transition area to help athletes safely move from swim to bike and bike to run.

The detailsKnow before you go
-
Bring a swimsuit, towel, bike, helmet, running shoes, water bottle, and anything else your child normally uses for swimming, biking, and running. Registered families will receive a detailed gear checklist before race day.
-
Not at all. Tri the Park is designed for kids of all experience levels, including first-time triathletes. The event is meant to feel supportive, approachable, and fun.
-
The transition area is where athletes move from swimming to biking, and then from biking to running. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the area to help guide athletes, and families will receive transition instructions before race day.
-
There will be lifeguards and additional support around the pool, with people in the water available to assist swimmers as needed. Kickboards will also be available for children who need extra support.
-
No special racing bike is required. Kids can use the bike they’re comfortable riding, as long as it is safe and in good working condition.
-
Yes! Training wheels are welcome. We want young athletes to participate on the bike that makes them feel most comfortable and confident.
-
Parents can help their child get ready before the race, but athletes complete the course independently. Race staff and volunteers will be positioned throughout the course and transition area to guide and encourage them. No parents are allowed in the transition area once the race has started.
-
The event is held rain or shine. That said, we defer to the guidance of the Town of Bedford regarding event details and cancelations. If weather or trail conditions create a safety concern, registered families will be notified of any changes.
-
Registered families will receive detailed race information by email before the event, including arrival information, parking, start times, and anything else you need to know.
